A lot of the posts I've been reading seem to be from people who have left.

Mon, June 6, 2005 - 6:15 PMDon't forget to turn the lights off on your way out :)
Actually I'm heading back to Buffalo in a few weeks. I'm in need of a road trip and Shakespeare in the Park is a destination for me.

Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Sun, June 19, 2005 - 9:30 AMMe too. I like ghost towns. No traffic. -
-
Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Sat, June 25, 2005 - 3:53 PMThere's lots of traffic where I live. Living accross from a highway will do that. Ahh the joy . . . Actually it's not that bad, the land is great (espically considering it is in a city) Stuff is cheaper than California (sorta.) Just don't get stuck needing something in a torist trap area. (Stupid water!)
Seriously, despite all the problems I plan to live here for a long time. Now if I could only get a job . . .

Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Sun, September 3, 2006 - 6:20 PMI am back in Buffalo....and of course starting to get sick of it already. But there is no leaving because I am opening a store, which should keep me here for at least the next year. -
-
Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Wed, September 6, 2006 - 10:06 AMWhat kind of store is it?
And by the way, does anybody know anyplace in Buffalo where I can get pho? -
-
Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Sat, October 7, 2006 - 2:50 PMIt is a metaphysical supplies / crystals and minerals / jewelry / herbs / you name it anything else that i can get my hands on.
The address is 1241 Hertel Avenue (between delaware and colvin) And doors should be open to customers in about a week (if the damned power company had some competition we would be open already).
I have never eaten here, but it sounds like THE PLACE TO GO FOR PHO:
99 Fastfood Restaurant.
93 Niagara St. (downtown, on Niagara Sq., across from City Hall), Buffalo. 852-0462.
Also: [m] 3396 Bailey Ave., Buffalo. 836-6058.
Japanese and Vietnamese. (Formerly called "Pho 99". Reviews are for the original location downtown.)
I ate here in [6/01] and had a very tasty "rice vermicelli combo" (Bun Tom, Thit Nuong, Cha Gio) consisting of rice vermicelli, pork skewers, egg rolls, and charbroiled shrimp, with a sauce that I used as a dipping sauce until the waiter came over near the end of my meal and told me I was supposed to pour it over the whole thing. I had a Conchita milkshake: a milkshake-like, fruit-flavored beverage (other varieties include Jack, Avocado, and Durian).
[MEL, 5/99] says: "One of the few ethnic restaurants in downtown Buffalo. This new restaurant specializes in pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup), though I also had a very good salmon teriyaki here. Service is not quite fast food, but still pretty fast. A truly welcome addition."

Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Mon, October 2, 2006 - 2:35 PMI'm here (though just moved), and trying to find fun people to do coffee shops/play stupid board games/go to museums...whatever. Have a lot of people left, or are there still good communities out here?
Anyone interested in getting together for pizza and board games? I have Taboo, Clue, Therapy, etc. -
-
Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Mon, October 2, 2006 - 7:51 PMRosie....board games are cool. I wish more people would play them :) Where in B-lo are you?
There are some good communities in the area. Really. I'm serious :) -

Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Sun, October 15, 2006 - 10:15 AMI'd definitely be up for setting something up. I'm in north Buffalo. I have indeed been meeting some cool people....are there places where grad/professional students tend to go? Also, there were fun events happening this weekend, which of course were all shattered...haha. Has anyone been on one of those evening history/ghost tours?

Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Thu, March 22, 2007 - 5:36 PMi'm not in buffalo, but i'm in canandaigua. is that close enough? because if you think buffalo is devoid of good folk, i reside in total white-nerd land where the uninspired reign supreme!!!! -
-
Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Sun, July 1, 2007 - 10:21 PMHey, I was just in canandaigua a few weeks ago. It reminded me of the small town in Mass where I grew up :)

Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Sun, July 1, 2007 - 10:19 PMAbsolutely! Is anyone doing anything INTERESTING this summer? All my classmates have left....doesn't seem to be anyone fun out there. -

Re: Is anybody still actually in Buffalo?
Mon, July 2, 2007 - 7:46 AMThere is a huge tribal bellydance festival here in Buffalo in a few weeks. Two big shows. One show is on Friday, July 13th. It will showcase students and student troupes. Saturday will be the gala show with all the main tribal bellydance instructors who are teaching at the workshops that weekend. The instructors are some of the best in the country and even in the world. It's all taking place at The Church on Delaware. Check out the info at www.northernmigration.net If you want to see something amazing, definatly check it out. The woman who is hosting this won the Artvoice award for "best genre defying artist".
And there is always Shakespeare in Del. Pk. and festivals. Buffalo isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Its more that the people who complain about the city are just boring people with zero imagination.
